Literature Resource Center Quick Searching Tips |
General Search Instructions
- From the Eastwood Library home page (http://www.limestone.edu/library) begin by clicking on Research Databases under Library Resources.
- Next click on K-L in the alphabetical listing under Find Research Databases by Title.
- Then click on Literature Resource Center
- Choose a search path from the main screen
- Author Search is the default display - other search paths are:
- Title
- Authors by Type Search
- Advanced
- Literary-Historical Timeline
- Keyword
- Follow instructions listed under each search path
Search Paths
Author Search displays directly to the author requested or – if multiple author names appear – choose from an alphabetical list of author names that match search statement.
- Enter author's name and click on search
- Click on the author's name to display the Tabbed Results (folders): Biographies; Literary Criticism, Articles, and Work Overviews; Bibliographies; Additional Resources; Literary/Historical Timeline
- View the results – Biographies tab is the default display
- Or select from other tabbed folders – searchable tabs are in bold print
- Click on selected tab folder – may or may not display sub-tabs providing additional results
- Select from the results
Authors by Type displays directly to the author or authors that match search statement
- Select from options as appropriate: Author Name; Author Ethnicity; Author Nationality; Genre; Theme; Literary Movement or Time Period
- Choose from within each option selected and/or enter author if needed
- Click Search
- Results of one author, proceed to View results
- Results of multiple authors, choose from an alphabetical list of names that match search statement
- Click on author's name to display the Tabbed Results (folders)
- View results – Biographies tab is the default display
- Or select from other tabbed folders – searchable tabs are in bold print
- Click on selected tab folder – may or may not display sub-tabs providing additional results
- Select from the results
Title Search; Keyword Search; and Advanced Search display directly to the Tabbed Results (folders)
- Enter search statement (term or terms)
- Click Search
- View the results – search displays to one of the tabbed folders depending on results found for search statement
- Or select from other tabbed folders – searchable tabs are in bold print
- Click on selected tab folder – may or may display sub-tabs providing additional results
- Select from the results
Literary-Historical Timeline displays date ranges for literary figures, movements, and historical events
- Select from date ranges provided
- Click on the picture above the selected date range
- View results
- Or enter a date in the start date field
- Select A.D. or B.C.
- Enter an end date
- Select Search
- View results

Literary-Historical Timeline: Targets a specific date range, thus providing a sense of events that took place in an author's life and/or the period in which a work was published
Literature Resource Center: Provides online access to biographies, literary criticism, bibliographies, work overviews, work sites, and additional resources on authors and their works
Tabbed Results (folders): Organize the search results by type of document and allow easy access to the different types of articles about author and his/her work
Theme Sub-tab: Provides method to identify other authors who treat the same theme or themes as the author query
Web sites Sub-tab: Lists authoritative internet resources on the author's life and works
