LIMESTONE SOLDIER SURPRISES CHILDREN WITH LEAP FROM GIFT

soldier 2 - 50Little 12-year-old Camryn Wood pushed away the bow and quickly opened the huge Christmas present at her school, Granard Middle in Gaffney, just before Christmas. Her mouth then flew open, her arms shot skyward, her bottom lip immediately poked out, and large tears began rolling down her cheeks.

The surprise package contained a very special Christmas gift – her dad, Limestone College alum Major Jason G. Wood, 42, of Gaffney, who had been deployed to Afghanistan since May, was hiding in the festive present. And neither Camryn nor her little 7-year-old brother, Christian, who was also helping unwrap the package, knew that dad was inside.

"IN GOOD FAITH" ART EXHIBIT OPENS AT LIMESTONE COLLEGE ON JAN. 14

art 2The sweet aroma of mint and cinnamon catch the nose's attention as artist Stephen Watson patiently empties various spices and fragrances onto a floor painting at Limestone College.

In a few hours, the different smells contained in the artwork provide a sensory experience in what Watson said he hopes invokes the descriptions of Jesus with a sweet fragrance found in Bible passages 2 Corinthians 2:14 and Ephesians 5:2. The 3-foot diameter circles feature alternating patterns with mint, cinnamon, chili powder, parsley and other spices in a painting installed for his "In Good Faith" exhibit.
