Fitness Trail Proposal Receiving National Attention

A comprehensive year-long study by a Limestone College physical education professor and her students that could lead to a fitness trail throughout the Gaffney community is garnering interest by two national organizations.

Limestone Physical Education Professor Dr. Maria Felicia Cavallini recently spoke at two national conferences about the project, which was led by her and her students, and how it addresses needs of the community.

"TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD" ACTRESS TO SPEAK AT LIMESTONE ON MARCH 19

Mary Badham, known to many movie fans as "Scout" in the 1962 classic film To Kill a Mockingbird, will visit Limestone College on Monday, March 19 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film's release.

She will also talk about civic issues such as human rights, the women's movement, and her experiences while shooting the film including her friendships with other actors in the film including Gregory Peck.

Entitled "An Intimate Evening with Mary Badham," the event begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Limestone Center Theatre. There will be a short lecture by Badham followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Social Work Professor to Speak at Statewide Symposium About Motivation

Tim Hanshaw, Assistant Professor of Social Work at Limestone College and Associate Director of the institution's Social Work Field Placement Program, has been invited to speak at the annual symposium for the South Carolina chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (SCNASW).

More than 1,500 attendees are expected to attend the four-day symposium, which will be held March 11-14 in Columbia.
