LIMESTONE "EMPTY BOWLS" PROJECT MAKES DONATION

Empty Bowls - Donation Photo2Limestone College Art Professor Carolyn Ford (left) is seen recently presenting $500 and a glazed bowl to Peach Center Ministries Executive Director Tammie McGee. The donation was made possible through Limestone’s “Empty Bowls Project,” which is a grassroots movement to fight hunger. Ford – with the help of Dr. Youmi Efurd’s Art Appreciation and Art History classes, the AWE Core Committee’s summer retreat led by Professors Erin Pushman and Reed Chewning, and other volunteer faculty, staff, students, and members of the Gaffney community – organized for over 100 bowls to be made, glazed and sold to help fight hunger in Cherokee County. Peach Center Ministries is a non-profit faith-based organization that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. (Limestone College photo)
