GUITAR CONCERT TUESDAY, SEPT. 17

David BurgessRecently returned from a seven-city European concert tour, guitarist David Burgess will perform some of Brazil’s finest solo guitar music during a concert at Limestone College on Tuesday, Sept. 17. 

The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Carroll Fine Arts Building Recital Hall.  The public is cordially invited, and there is no admission fee.

Praised by critics for his polished technique and flamboyant style, Burgess has performed throughout North and South America, Europe, and the Far East.  He has recorded for CBS Masterworks, Musical Heritage Society, Tritone, and Athena Records.  Formerly a student of Andres Segovia, he has captured prizes in international guitar competitions in New York, Mexico City, Toronto, and Munich.

"HOW I BECAME A PIRATE" COMING TO FULLERTON AUDITORIUM

pirate2A once-in-a-lifetime experience for the family of a children’s book author will play itself out in front of live audiences at LimestoneCollege later this month.

Limestone College Theatre and the Gaffney Little Theatre will join forces on Friday, Sept. 20, and Saturday, Sept. 21, to present three stage productions of “How I Became A Pirate,” which is based upon the book by the same name written by Greenville resident Melinda Long.

And when that book comes to life at Fullerton Auditorium on the Limestone campus, Long will have the opportunity to watch as her son, Bryan, a senior at Limestone, takes on one of the major roles as Captain Braid Beard.

LIMESTONE NAMED AMONG REGION'S BEST

A small, private liberal arts institution based in Gaffney, SC, Limestone College is listed as the 56th best regional college in the South, according to the report.
