MASTER CLASS WITH GUITARIST DAVID BURGESS

guitarA recital at Limestone College on Sept. 17 provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a group of young talented guitarists.

Recently returned from a seven-city European concert tour, guitarist David Burgess performed some of Brazil’s finest solo guitar music during his concert at the Carroll Fine Arts Building Recital Hall.

With the blessing of Burgess, Limestone music professor Dr. Harry “Chip” Hill recently contacted Michael Miller, a Lawson Academy of the Arts guitar instructor from Converse College, and encouraged him to bring his youth ensemble of guitarists known as “Bella Chorda” to Limestone for an afternoon master class work session with Burgess.

"FIGHT LIKE JIMMY" T-SHIRTS

Fight Like Jimmy Shirts-01As part of an on-going fund-raising effort to honor long-time Limestone College softball coach Jimmy Martin, “Fight Like Jimmy” t-shirts can now be ordered through the Saints athletic department.

The immediate goal is to raise $75,000 to create “Jimmy Martin Field” on the Limestone College campus. The long-term goal is to eventually raise $250,000 to create “Jimmy Martin Stadium.”

GUITAR CONCERT TUESDAY, SEPT. 17

David BurgessRecently returned from a seven-city European concert tour, guitarist David Burgess will perform some of Brazil’s finest solo guitar music during a concert at Limestone College on Tuesday, Sept. 17. 

The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Carroll Fine Arts Building Recital Hall.  The public is cordially invited, and there is no admission fee.

Praised by critics for his polished technique and flamboyant style, Burgess has performed throughout North and South America, Europe, and the Far East.  He has recorded for CBS Masterworks, Musical Heritage Society, Tritone, and Athena Records.  Formerly a student of Andres Segovia, he has captured prizes in international guitar competitions in New York, Mexico City, Toronto, and Munich.
