Limestone College Theatre Presents Romantic Comedy and Neil Simon Classic

Limestone College Theatre will kick off its 2009-2010 season with its fall production of Barefoot in the Park. Performances will take place on September 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. and September 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium.

Neil Simon's Tony Award winning play shows the antics between newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter and confirms the theory that opposites really do attract. "I chose Barefoot in the Park because I think it's a story that just about anyone can relate to," said director Carrie Ameling.  "Opposites do indeed attract.  I'm a theatre person, and I married a computer science person.  You can't get more opposite than that."

In addition to adjusting to married life, the two must contend with a lack of heat, a skylight with a gaping hole, several long flights of stairs, oddball neighbor Victor Velasco, and Corie's well-meaning mother.  Barefoot in the Park is a heart-warming comedy about sacrifices, choosing battles to fight, and new beginnings.

"I think audiences will identify with this play, and we all need a 'feel good story' once in a while, especially in the midst of so much tragedy and bad news in our community and the world," said Ameling.  "It's important in theatre to address and face the tough social/political issues that plague our world, but it's also nice to have an escape from the realities of our harsh world.  If you need a good belly laugh and a sweet, poignant story, Barefoot in the Park will fit the bill perfectly!"
