MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PROGRAM SCHEDULED FOR LIMESTONE COLLEGE

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Limestone College will host Zimbabwean pastor Reverend Lloyd Nyarota for a lecture on Monday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium.

The lecture by Reverend Nyarota is entitled “With Liberty and Justice For All: The Influence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Other Freedom Movements.” There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

Rev NyarotaThe program is being produced through a partnership with Limestone College and the Cherokee County MLK Committee. Immediately following the lecture, the MLK Committee will recognize the winners of its annual art and essay contest.

Reverend Nyarota is a grassroots organizer who serves as Director of the Chabadza Community Development Program, which is working to improve the lives of people in disadvantaged and underdeveloped communities in Zimbabwe.  He recently published a book, Religious Leadership in National Political Conflicts, which describes how a United Methodist bishop became a leader in Zimbabwe’s struggle against colonial rule.
