Happenings


The nationally top-ranked Limestone College (19-1) men's lacrosse team advanced to its second straight NCAA Division II National Championship Game and third title game appearance over the past four years with a 16-6 semifinal win over No. 5 Lake Erie College (15-3) on Sunday, May 17, at Saints Field.

Alumni Awards

Limestone College recently recognized its Outstanding Alumni during a banquet at Stephenson Dining Hall on its main campus in Gaffney.


The award winners included Patricia Williams Willis, Alumnus Of The Year; Amanda A. Knowles, Service To Community; Paul William Fleming, Service To College; Frances Martin Bush, Service To Education; Bryan Franklin Armstrong, Young Alumnus Of The Year; and Dr. Barbara B. Smith, Service To Church.

Lockwood Retirement

For her accomplishments as a scholar, teacher, and administrator, Dr. Anne Lockwood was granted the status of Professor Emerita of English during the May 7 commencement ceremony at Fullerton Auditorium.

“Dr. Lockwood has always demonstrated outstanding service to her students, her colleagues, and to the College community overall,” Limestone President Dr. Walt Griffin said of the retiring professor. “For 16 years, she has been beloved and revered in the academic setting at Limestone College and she will be missed immensely. We wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Bill Baker

Retiring Limestone College administrator Dr. William H. “Bill” Baker was granted Vice President Emeritus status during a commencement ceremony at Fullerton Auditorium on May 7.

Alumni Lunch

On Saturday, April 25, as part of Alumni Day 2015, Limestone College hosted a reception and luncheon for its Golden and Golden-Plus Classes, which included the Classes of 1965, 1960, 1955, 1950, 1945, and 1940.
