| Acclaimed Tenor Joins Limestone Community Music School Faculty |
Jake Thomason, tenor, has joined the faculty of the Limestone College Community Music School, and began instruction in September.
In 2006, he performed his first semi-operatic role, "Frederic," in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance at Furman University. He was chosen to study voice in the fall of 2007 at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy. In 2008 he played "Satyavan"in Gustav Holst's opera Savitri, also at Furman. In 2009, he was invited to perform the role of "Ferrando" in Mozart's Cosí fan tutte at the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar, Germany. In the summer of 2011 he, along with some of his colleagues, presented a concerted version of Massenet's Werther, with Jake in the title role. He has appeared in scenes from Puccini's La Bohème, Verdi's La Traviata, Verdi's Rigoletto, Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Poulenc's Les Dialogues des Carmélites. At Indiana University he has been in the choruses for Lucia di Lammermoor, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Faust, La Boheme, and Der Rosenkavalier. He has participated in masterclasses with Carol Vaness, Sherrill Milnes, Carlos Montané, Stanford Olsen, and Betsy Bishop. |
