Parker Denson is the new Associate Director of Bands here at Limestone College. Originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama.  He has taught band and music in public schools in Auburn, Northport, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has studied conducting with Dr. Kenneth Ozzello, Professor W. Dale Warren, and Professor George Parks as well as music and education research with Dr. Carl Hancock and Dr. Carol Prickett.

Mr. Denson has an extensive background in athletic bands. He served as Head Drum Major for 5 years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marching Blazers, and for one year as Head Drum Major for the Sudler Trophy award winning Marching Razorbacks of the University of Arkansas. Most recently, while working with the Million Dollar Band, also a Sulder Trophy award winner, from the University of Alabama, Parker conducted athletic pep bands for 11 different sports. His Master’s Thesis, entitled “A Survey of Game Management and Marketing Practices Influencing Collegiate Pep Band Programs in the United States,” looked at over one hundred different athletic band programs across the country.

Mr. Denson has also taught for 16 years for George N. Parks Drum Major Academy. He taught thousands of high school and college marching band drum majors and leaders from across the country every summer. Spanning from over 30 states, Parker taught students at workshops in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Utah. He has also worked with Bowl Games of America as a conductor for the marching all-star bands for the Sugar Bowl and BCS Championship Games pre-game and halftime shows. Not only is Mr. Denson sought after as a clinician but he has served on the events team and judge for the Bands of America Marching Championships.

Mr. Denson is an active member of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), National Association for Music Educators (NAfME, formerly MENC), Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA), South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA), South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA), and College Music Society. Mr. Denson is married to his wife Morgan and they have two yellow Labrador retrievers, named Bella and Minnie.
