Limestone College's Annual Young Artist Competition for vocalists and instrumentalists will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013. Cash awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Repertoire examples are provided below as well as other information regarding the competition. Participation in the competition will also serve as an audition into the music department, and those who place may also receive a scholarship to Limestone College. Cash Awards 1st Place - $500.00 To register, scroll to the bottom of this page and complete the online application. The application deadline is April 5, 2013. We look forward to seeing you on our beautiful and historic campus, and hearing your performance. Required Repertoire Wind and percussion instruments - any major concerto movement or solo work Examples: Flute - Mozart , Concerto in G Major Keyboard: Organ- works of J.S. Bach (choose a Prelude and/or Fugue, or large Chorale Prelude), AND any work of the 19thcentury on or above the level of the Franck Cantabile or the Brahms Chorale Preludes (2 works total and all works are to be memorized) Guitar: Voice: Accompanists Information All performances must be accompanied, except for cases in which no accompaniment is indicated. Entrants are encouraged to bring their own accompanists. Limestone College staff accompanists will be provided for an additional fee of $30.00. An original copy (i.e., no photocopies) of the score with the tempi clearly indicated (metronome speeds), must be sent with the competition application, or upon completion of the online application. If your selection appears in an anthology, a copy of the score will be accepted by mail, but the original must arrive with the student on the day of the competition. The competition will not provide an accompanist for music received after the application deadline.
