Limestone College is proud to announce the 7th annual Limestone College Honor Band Clinic. The clinic is FREE to selected members! Honor Band members will be selected from a list of nominated students provided by students' Band Director. Honor Band members MUST be nominated by their band director to be considered for the clinic. Chairs will be determined by a short performance audition (see Information Form) which will include: selected scales and sight-reading.
Music for both the high school and middle school may also be available through SmartMusic. The program list will be available online. When students have been notified of their selection into the Honor Band, they may begin preparing for the clinic by going into SmartMusic, opening the program titles, and practicing.
What Honor Band members receive: Selected members for the 2014 Honor Band Clinic will receive quality instruction, lunch and dinner in the Limestone College Dining Hall, an honor band tee shirt and braclet, a free concert, and the opportunity to perform with students from around North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
How to be selected into the Honor Band: The Band Director Nomination Form will be available soon. Band directors will receive notification, via email, within 36 hours of submitting the nomination form confirming receipt. Band director nominations are due December 6thand selections for the Honor Band will be provided to the Band Director by December 10, 2014. Once selected, Honor Band Students are to complete and mail a Registration Form, available online, by January 10, 2014.
Limestone College Scholarship Competition for Honor Band Seniors: Senior High School Honor Band members will also be allowed to participate in a Scholarship Competition during the clinic. The winner will be provided with a $20,000 music scholarship to Limestone College.
To be eligible for the comptition students must:
be a current high school senior;
be selected to participate in the 2014 Limestone College Honor Band Clinic;
register as a compeditor on their Registration Form PRIOR to arriving for the Clinic, and;
have a solo prepared for the competition. Compeditors are to use the state All-State solo, or an appropriate, equivalent, repertoire selection. No accompaniment will be provided.
Winners will be determined by a combination of scores from: 1) sight-reading scroes during chair placements on Thursday evening, and 2) the faculty scored assessment of the solo performance. Any questions regarding the Scholarship Competition may be directed to Dr. Doug Presley, Director of Bands.
December 6 Band Director Nomination Forms are due.
December 10 Band directors will be notified which students have been selected for the Honor Band via email.
January 10 All Honor Band Students’ Registration Form is due (mail).
January 30 Honor Band Clinic beings!
January 31 Limestone College Wind Ensemble Performance, Fullerton Auditorium.
February 1 Honor Bands Concert, Fullerton Auditorium.
