Philosophy and Goals

The variety of courses offered in the department are designed to give the student a well rounded experience in inorganic, organic, physical, analytical, and instrumental chemistry. Our goal is to adequately prepare students to insure upon graduation that multiple options are available to them such as:

• Obtain direct employment in industry or government agencies,
• Pursue either a M.S. or Ph.D. chemistry degree,
• Gain entrance into professional programs such as medical, dental, pharmacy, or veterinary school

Limestone expects its students to be concerned with two closely related types of development; that of the productive citizen and that of the person working toward intellectual maturity and self-awareness. The undergraduate experience serves as the catalyst for the student's intellectual development, as a means of fostering the growth of each individual's capacity for self-awareness and sustained commitment to learning, and as a means by which each student may reach his or her potential.
