Jennifer Casement Buttineau

Former Limestone College softball player Jennifer Casement Buttineau has signed a semi-professional contract with the Lucerne Eagles in Switzerland for the 2015 summer season.

A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Buttineau becomes the first former player in Limestone softball history to play professionally. She currently resides in Barrie, Ontario, with her husband of six years, Derek.

Prior to the start of the Limestone College-Newberry baseball game on Wednesday at 3 p.m., representatives from Founders Federal Credit Union will be recognized. With Founders FCU obtaining the naming rights to the stadium, Limestone has made great improvements to the facility recently.

The Limestone College Music Department hosted a hot dog lunch fundraising event on Friday, March 27, at the Fellowship Hall of Limestone Presbyterian Church on Limestone Street in Gaffney.

Proceeds will benefit the Limestone College Chorus, which is raising funds for a recruiting choral performance tour in New York City, May 11-16. Approximately 25 students are expected to participate, and the goal is to raise $1,449 per student.

The Limestone College women’s basketball team advanced into the Final Four with Tuesday night’s 61-58 win over Lewis University.

Tonight (March 25) Limestone takes on Cal Baptist in the NCAA Division II Final Four in Sioux Falls, SD. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network (Charter Channel 303). It will also be seen on Fox College Sports Channel-Atlantic (Charter Channel 304).

Check local listings for other television providers.

The game tips at 8:30 p.m. (CST), which is 9:30 p.m. local time (EST).

The Division of Arts and Letters is sponsoring the chamber music theatre production of “Ain’t I A Woman” at Limestone College’s Fullerton Auditorium on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.

The professional touring performance of “Ain’t I A Woman” celebrates the lives and times of four significant African-American Women, including ex-slave and abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, folk artist Clementine Hunter, and civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer.
