Mike Furrey Camp

Limestone College conducted two football camps on Thursday, July 14, and two more are scheduled for next week.

The Mike Furrey Little League Camp was held during the morning, while the Limestone College Football High School Prospect Camp was conducted in the afternoon of July 14. Furrey, a former NFL standout and assistant coach at Marshall University, is entering his first season as the Saints' head coach.

Peach Festival

The 2016 South Carolina Peach Festival starts soon, and Limestone College is once again a proud sponsor and host for several events.

Limestone will be home to the Fun Run & Road Races (Timken Center), Dog Show (Timken Field) and the Miss S.C. Peach Festival Pageant (Fullerton Auditorium) on Saturday, July 9. The College's Fullerton Auditorium will also host New Talent Night on Thursday, July 14.

Miss Limestone College Keasha Currence was presented with the “Spirit Award” by judges on Saturday, June 25, at the 2016 Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant held at Township Auditorium in Columbia.
 

The “Spirit Award” is presented each year to the contestant the judges feel most benefitted from her Miss South Carolina experience, and saw in her a great amount of potential and growth. The award included a $500 scholarship.

Sara Jernigan Eddins from the Class of 1960 was named Limestone College’s 2016 Philanthropist of the Year during a luncheon in her honor on Friday, June 17, in her hometown of Lancaster, SC.

Miss Limestone College Keasha Currence is currently competing in the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant that is taking place this week at Township Auditorium in Columbia, with the finals set for Saturday, June 25.

Preliminaries started on Tuesday and will continue through Thursday.

Prior to last year when Alayna Downey of Gaffney represented the College, the last time Limestone had a contestant in the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant was 1997.

Limestone was ranked No.40 in the Southern Region by the nationally-recognized publication.

Limestone College was recently designated as being one of the best online liberal arts institutions in the nation for bachelor’s degrees.

The well-known online publication College Choice ranks Limestone as having the 35th best online liberal arts bachelor’s program in the United States.

New Limestone College head football coach Mike Furrey took a break from a recruiting tour on Saturday, June 4, to drop by a meeting of the President’s Advisory Council for a 30-minute discussion about how he intends to build the Saints’ program.

Furrey, the former wide receivers coach at Division I Marshall University and a former player in the National Football League, told the group of about 50 that the word “respect” will be front and center in everything they do.
