The list of potential executive search firms that will assist Limestone College in selecting its next President has been narrowed down to four, according to Board of Trustees Vice Chairman David Riggins.

Limestone’s 13-member Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Riggins, met on Thursday, May 11, to review information about 10 executive search firms being considered to assist with the comprehensive national pursuit for the next President.

Limestone College’s Presidential Search Committee has announced the formation of a webpage that will provide updates on its progress.

Dr. Walt Griffin, who has led Limestone College since 1992, announced in April his plans to retire later this year as President of the historic liberal arts institution in Gaffney. Dr. Griffin will continue to serve as Limestone’s President through the end of the 2017 fall semester which concludes with graduation ceremonies December 14-16.

The start time for Sunday's NCAA Division II semifinal men's lacrosse game between Limestone College and the University of Tampa has now been set for 12 noon.

Tickets are $10 each, as set by the NCAA.

Limestone College has hired as its new Assistant Director of Bands Joseph Earp, whose primary responsibilities will include directing and educating students in the school’s marching band, known as the Marching Saints.

Earp will officially join Limestone’s Department of Music staff on July 1. He will also be responsible for the music program’s recruiting efforts.

“Joseph will bring an enthusiasm for music and education that the Marching Saints membership needs and deserves,” said Dr. Patrick Carney, Limestone’s Director of Bands.

After 25 years, Matt Gable is a college graduate.

 It took a few moments for the achievement to sink in Saturday when Gable drove from his home in Summerville for a Limestone College graduation ceremony.

The emotion hit as, wearing his cap and gown, he walked in to take a seat with other soon-to-be-graduates inside Fullerton Auditorium.

“I came close to tears as I walked into the graduation ceremony,” Gable said. “I realized at that moment…I’m finally finished. I’m done.”

Mrs. Patti Hopper McCraw (seen on the right in accompanying photo), mother of two and grandmother of three, was all smiles on Thursday, May 4, as she lined up to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Limestone College.

McCraw said, “It didn’t take me but about 20 years longer than the others!"

Patti is also the long-time Manager of the Limestone Campus Store, which provides books and classroom supplies for students and also offers a complete line of Saints merchandise.

For an 18th consecutive year, the nationally top-ranked Limestone College men's lacrosse team has been selected to play in the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament and will begin its quest for a third title in four years as the top seed in the South Region.

The Saints’ entry into the tournament was announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, May 7.

A dedicated Limestone College alum, supporter, and Board of Trustees member will receive a special recognition during an upcoming graduation ceremony.

Limestone has three commencement exercises scheduled for Thursday, May 4; Friday, May 5; and Saturday, May 6.

At Thursday’s commencement, dedicated alumna, loyal trustee, benefactor, and friend Sara Jernigan Eddins will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree.

Limestone College Assistant Professor of Business Law Ursula Ramsey was recently named the Executive Editor of The Journal of Business Law and Ethics Pedagogy.

Ramsey is also a founding board member of The Journal, which is a peer-reviewed publication of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business and offers contributors the opportunity to share their innovations in business law and ethics teaching, student learning, and classroom experiences.

Limestone College Professor Dr. Cindy Cavanaugh was one of 20 faculty members across the state recently recognized by the S.C. Independent Colleges and Universities.

The faculty members were acknowledged for their dedication to teaching by the SCICU at the 12th Annual Excellence in Teaching Awards Dinner held on April 4.
