Women's Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. -The Limestone College women's volleyball team was named a 2015-16 AVCA Team Academic Award recipient, recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in an announcement that was released on Monday (July 25).

The award was started in the 1992-93 academic year and honors both collegiate and high school volleyball teams that show academic excellence by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

This year, a new all-time high of 762 teams earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, which surpassed last year's total of 757 teams. There were a total of 119 NCAA Division II teams honored, which also reached a new record.

The Saints will look to continue their success in the classroom and on the court when they open the 2015-16 season at Garner-Webb University on Sept. 1 in Boiling Springs, N.C. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
