Limestone takes top honor @ S.C. Speech & Theatre Assoc. Festival

Limestone College Theatre recently had 15 students participate in the recent South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association (SCSTA) College Festival at Newberry College.
The festival, held this year on Feb. 1, is an annual event that encourages healthy, challenging competition among students from South Carolina colleges.  Ten schools participated this year, with Limestone taking home the biggest honor of “State Sweepstakes” for the second year in a row.  “State Sweepstakes” is awarded to the school with the most combined first, second and third place finalists.
All Limestone students made it to the finals in at least one category.
The following students placed in their final round:
Audition Monologues: Catherine Holly (junior, Gaffney, SC), first place; Zach White (sophomore, Gaffney, SC), second place.
Musical Theatre Duet: Jena Alford (senior, Gaffney, SC) and Cody Bostic (junior, Gaffney, SC), second place; Jessie Cantrell (freshman, Jonesville, SC) and Jessica Clarke (freshman, Boiling Springs, SC), third place.

The South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association is a professional organization that promotes the study of all areas of performance and oral communication: acting, oral interpretation/performance studies, theatre, broadcasting, public speaking, discussion and debate, and speech/theatre education. The mission of SCSTA is to encourage a passion for excellence in speech and theatre education in South Carolina, thus advancing the total speech and theatre effort in our state. SCSTA serves both the public and private schools and the colleges and universities in South Carolina through three spring festival competitions, and through recognition of outstanding contributors to our efforts.
