Continuing their success on the field into the classroom, both the Limestone College men's and women's soccer programs were named 2015-2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award winners as announced by the organization on Thursday, October 6.

The Saints were one of 221 schools among all divisions that earned the honors for both their men's and women's programs.  892 total schools earned the distinction with 315 men's teams and 577 women's teams making up the sum.

The men's soccer team has picked up its ninth straight honor on the back of a 3.42 GPA turned in by head coach Eric Alsop's team.  The Blue and Gold had a pair of players land on the Academic All-District team a year ago while senior Gui Machado (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named a scholar All-American for his efforts in the classroom last season.

Head Coach Matt Smith has led his women's program to their second straight recognition, the third of his tenure.  The women's team had five members of last year's squad named to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region team while senior Mariette Martinez (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) picked up the programs first NSCAA All-American and Scholar All-American honors.

Both teams return to action this Saturday, October 8 as they travel to Central, S.C. to take on the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan.  The women's game is set for a 5:00 p.m. kick-off while the men's game is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
