Limestone To Graduate 291 Students During Commencements

With the spring semester coming to a close, Limestone College will soon hold three commencement exercises at Fullerton Auditorium.

Limestone will confer a total of 291 degrees during graduations planned for May 5-7. Board of Trustees Chairman Richard Baines will welcome graduates, family members, and guests each day.

The day program students will graduate Thursday, May 5, at 4 p.m. A luncheon at Stephenson Dining Hall will be held for those graduates at 12 noon, and following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Limestone president Dr. Walt Griffin will host a reception in their honor at 2:30 p.m. at the Curtis Administration Building. The commencement speaker on Thursday will be Rick Jiran, Vice President of Community Relations with Duke Energy South Carolina. Mr. Jiran is also a member of the Limestone College Board of Trustees.

Dr. Charles Cunning will be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Vice President Emeritus of Academic Affairs and Executive Vice President. Dr. Cunning is retiring from Limestone after 21 years of service.

Also on Thursday, Patricia (Pat) Williams Willis will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Service degree. Willis is a 1955 Limestone graduate who has been a dedicated Trustee, benefactor, and friend to the College over the years.

Graduation for the Online & Evening classroom students will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 6. Those graduates will enjoy a brunch at 10:30 a.m., followed by a campus tour by Dr. Griffin at 12 noon. Following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Dr. Griffin’s reception in their honor will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday’s commencement address will be delivered by Dr. Paula Schubert, Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at Limestone.

The Online & Evening internet students will graduate on Saturday, May 7, and will follow the same schedule as the Online & Evening classroom students. Graduates from the MBA program will also be recognized. Saturday’s speaker will be Dr. Yan Gong, Limestone College Associate Professor of Mathematics.

Including the 291 from the December commencements, Limestone College will graduate a total of 612 students during the 2015-2016 academic year.
