Limestone College Fall Commencements Set For December 15-17

With the fall semester coming to a close, Limestone College will soon hold three commencement exercises at Fullerton Auditorium.

Limestone will confer a total of 323 degrees during those graduations planned for December 15-17. Board of Trustees Chairman Richard Baines will welcome graduates, family members, and guests each day.

The Day Program students will graduate Thursday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. A luncheon at Stephenson Dining Hall will be held for those graduates at 12 noon, and following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Limestone president Dr. Walt Griffin will host a reception in their honor at 2:30 p.m. at the Curtis Administration Building. The commencement speaker on Thursday will be Dr. Karl Trybus, Assistant Professor of History at Limestone. 

Graduation for the Online & Evening Classroom students will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. Those graduates will enjoy a brunch at 10:30 a.m., followed by a campus tour by Dr. Griffin at 12 noon. Following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Dr. Griffin’s reception in their honor will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday’s commencement address will be delivered by Brenda Watkins, Director of Human Resources for the College and Adjunct Professor for Psychology and Transition Success.

The Online & Evening Internet and MBA program students will graduate on Saturday, Dec. 17, and will follow the same schedule as the Online & Evening classroom students. MBA graduates will have a reception at 2:30 p.m. inside Winnie Davis Hall of History. Saturday’s speaker will be Representative Stephen “Steve” Moss from District 30 in South Carolina, which represents portions of Cherokee and York Counties.

Rep. Moss, a life-long resident of Blacksburg, is a retired banker and has served for 43 years as a volunteer firefighter. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University, and graduated from the South Carolina School of Banking and the School of Banking of South at Louisiana State University. In addition to serving on a number of other boards and commissions, Rep. Moss has served as the President of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and Gaffney Rotary Club and also served on the Cherokee County School Board and the South Carolina State Board of Education. Currently a member of the Cherokee County Development Board, he has been a member of House of Representatives since 2009. Rep. Moss was named the S.C. Farm Bureau Legislator of the Year in 2015.
