Limestone Chorus To Deliver "Singing Valentines"

Instead of the standard candy and flowers to capture hearts for Valentine’s Day, Limestone College hopes local residents will select a more “vocal” approach.

For the second straight year, the Limestone College Chorus is prepared to surprise that special someone with an out of the ordinary gift later this month, a Singing Valentine.

The Chorus members will deliver Singing Valentines throughout the Cherokee County area on Friday, Feb. 12, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

For a fee of $25, the ensemble will visit a recipient's home, office, or a restaurant to present a flower, card, or candy, and then serenade the recipient with one of three songs to choose from – “You Are My Sunshine,” Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” or “Sugartime.”

Proceeds will benefit the Limestone College Chorus, which is raising funds for upcoming performance travel.

Orders can be placed by calling (704) 477-4651, or using a secure order form on the Limestone College website, www.limestone.edu/singing-valentines. All credit card orders should be done online.

Requests will be accepted until Thursday, Feb. 11, at 12 noon. Those interested in placing orders can select one of seven one-hour time periods for their Singing Valentines to be delivered.

For loved ones outside of Cherokee County, the website link can also be used to order telephone Singing Valentines for $10 each.

“Our students loved delivering the Singing Valentines last year, so we’re so excited to offer them once again,” said Dr. Gena Poovey, Limestone’s Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education. “This is a great way to make someone’s Valentine’s truly special, while also generating funding for the Limestone Chorus.”
