Lacrosse National Champs Honored At S.C. State House

The Limestone College men's lacrosse team was recognized for a second straight year at the South Carolina State House in Columbia on Thursday, Jan. 28, after successfully defending its NCAA Division II National Championship during the 2015 season.

Following a tour of the State House, the national champs met with South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster, who took time to congratulate the team for its tremendous accomplishment of winning back-to-back titles.

The Saints were then recognized on the floor of the South Carolina House of Representatives with a special resolution presented by Representatives Dennis Moss, Steve Moss, Eddie Tallon, and Gary Clary.

Limestone players and coaches then took a few moments to have a team photo taken on the steps of the State House before being recognized during a session of the South Carolina Senate. Sen. Harvey Peeler introduced the Saints to the chamber.

Following a catered meal with several of the elected leaders from Cherokee County, the team boarded the bus to make the trip to Chapel Hill to face ACC power North Carolina in a preseason exhibition game.

The Saints will begin their quest for unprecedented third consecutive national championship on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they travel to face Tusculum College in the season opener.
