Hurricane Irma: Limestone College Precautions

September 8, 2017

The Limestone College Crisis Response Team, Administration, and Campus Safety are monitoring Hurricane Irma advisories and are preparing response measures should the Cherokee County community be impacted.

Situations are also being monitored for our Online & Evening locations throughout South Carolina.

The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our highest priority. Should the situation demand, we would make plans to cancel classes and/or close campus. Students, faculty, and staff will be notified via our Limestone Alert System as soon as a decision is made regarding classes in the early part of next week.

We will also provide updates regarding any food services changes.

Students are encouraged to monitor the hurricane through local news stations or online, and Day Program students should make sure their cell phone numbers and other contact information in our Limestone Alert System is up to date so they can receive the alert messages quickly. To update your information, please use the LC Portal.

We also ask that Limestone students take precautionary measures – make certain cell phones and computers are charged, and make sure they have working flashlights and batteries in case of power outages

While food service will be provided for Day Program students, locations and hours might be limited, so it is suggested that they have some food and water on hand if possible.

Decisions on class schedule changes or closures at Limestone will be made as more is known about the path of the hurricane. We will provide updates to the campus community as these decisions are made.
