Dr. Deitra C. Payne and Dr. Kevin Ihetu won the ‘Distinguished Paper Award’ for their paper entitled, Broken: The Harmful Effects of Workplace Bullying presented at the October, 2015 Mustang International Academic Conference. Although there has been significant research conducted on bullying in the workplace over the last 20  years, there has been little done in terms of legislation to protect those who have been bullied.  As a result, there has been a rise in workplace bullying, leaving behind the physical and psychological damage experienced by the targeted. This paper explores the literature of the harmful effects associated with workplace bullying, and the way in which emotional intelligence can be used to help mitigate the problem.
