Aguilar and Machado Named to NSCAA Scholar Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Limestone College senior defender Nestor Aguilar (Jaen, Spain) and senior forward Gui Machado (Sao Paulo, Brazil) were both named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Men's Soccer Scholar All-South Region Team while Machado earned NSCAA Scholar All-American honors as announced on Friday, December 9.

The duo had previously been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team while both earned Academic All-Conference and multiple Academic and Scholar All-Region honors in their final season at Limestone. Machado is now a three-time All-American on the academic side, the most in team history.

Machado finished 10th overall in the nation with 18 goals this season and was 14th in NCAA Division II with 38 points. He guided a Limestone offensive unit that ranked seventh in the country with 2.85 goals per game, and will graduate tied for third in program history with 37 career goals and sixth with 83 points.

The 2015 Conference Carolinas Scholar Athlete of the Year and a two-time Academic All-Conference selection is triple majoring in marketing, management and sport management and is carrying an overall GPA of 3.83.

Aguilar helped anchor the Saints defense during the 2016 campaign, a unit that ranked 18th nationally with nine shutouts. He was named All-Conference Carolinas and earned a spot on a pair of all-region teams to wrap up his career with the Blue and Gold.

A physical education major, Aguilar has been selected to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll in each of semester at Limestone before earning CoSIDA Academic All-Region and CoSIDA Academic All-American honors this year. He holds a 3.91 overall grade point average.
